TOPIC: Neutrophil Elastase and Chronic Inflammatory Lung Disease
SPEAKER: Judith Voynow, MD

Judith Voynow, M.D. is the Edwin L. Kendig Jr. Professor of Pediatric Pulmonology at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dr. Voynow received her medical degree from University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She completed Pediatric residency and a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She then completed a research fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Ron Crystal at NIH. Dr. Voynow served on the faculty of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. and Duke University in Durham, NC before joining the faculty at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU in 2013.

Dr. Voynow’s research and publications have focused on three major areas: i) airway inflammation and mucin expression in Cystic Fibrosis; ii) bronchopulmonary dysplasia and chronic lung disease; and iii) environmental - host interactions that affect risk for lung disease.  She serves as an Associate Editor for Pediatric Pulmonology and is on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Respiratory Cell Molecular Biology. She is a standing member of grant review committees for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the State of Nebraska DHHS, and serves as an ad hoc member of NIH study sections, study sections for private foundations, and for the FDA Pulmonary and Allergy Advisory Committee.
