George Humphrey, MA
George joined the University of Arizona Office of Public Information (now University Communications) in 1987 as a public information officer. He accepted a position as a public information officer at UAHS in 1989, then went on to serve as Editor, Associate Director and Director before his appointment as Assistant Vice President for Public Affairs in 2007. From 2006-2007, he also served as Interim Associate Vice President for University Communications on the UA’s Main Campus. In 2013, he served a five-month stint as Interim Assistant Vice President for University Communications.
Prior to joining the UA, Humphrey was managing editor of Territorial Newspapers, where he oversaw production of a daily and two weekly publications. Before that he was a staff writer at the Prescott Courier. He also served as managing editor of the Clifton-Morenci Copper Era newspaper and worked in Palo Alto, Calif., for an investor relations firm.
Humphrey received both his bachelor’s (with honors, Phi Beta Kappa) and master’s degrees at the UA.
