The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy is hosting its very successful PharmCamp, which will be held across various locations in Southern Arizona throughout June and early July. More than 800 students will participate in the camp, which is celebrating its 21st year.
Campers are introduced to an array of opportunities to help them develop and nurture a lifelong passion for learning, using hands-on science activities and stations. Daily activities help raise students’ awareness and interest about the exciting possibility of careers in pharmacy and the health sciences. Camp counselors are pre-health professions students or students attending the UA College of Pharmacy.
PharmCamp selects its student campers from an extensive applicant pool of candidates with the assistance of the UA Office of Early Academic Outreach (Tucson) and with the teachers and principals from the respective middle school districts and local charter schools.
The campers reside in communities and neighborhoods where challenging economic and social conditions for families with school-age children prevail and where needs are great. PharmCamp does not charge tuition or fees to attend and lunches are provided daily to all campers. PharmCamp participates with schools engaged with science, technology, engineering and mathematics and preparation for career education efforts.
