Anthony 'Tony' DeFrancesco

Anthony “Tony” DeFrancesco, RD, MS, FACHE, is the assistant vice president of operations for the University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) in Tucson.
DeFrancesco provides senior-level leadership in support of UAHS projects and change-management initiatives, including facility/space planning, clinical research operations, shared service units and responsibility-centered management implementation.
DeFrancesco brings more than 15 years of health-care executive experience to his new role. Prior to his UA appointment, he was associate director and chief operating officer of the Veterans Affairs Long Beach Healthcare System in California, where he also served as interim medical center director. He also has served as acting deputy network director at the Veterans Affairs Desert Pacific Veterans Integrated System Network in Long Beach and as administrator of inpatient care services at the Carl T. Hayden Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Phoenix. DeFrancesco is board certified in health-care management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), demonstrating commitment to professional excellence. ACHE is an international professional society of more than 35,000 health-care executives who lead hospitals, health-care systems and other health-care organizations.
He received his Master of Science in nutritional science from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Science in food service management/dietetics from the University of Arizona.
